In the years before he passed away on April 6, 1888, Thomas Green Clemson spent time alone outside the Fort Hill mansion. The mansion was reopened in the spring of 2003 after a two-year renovation project which included modernizing the heating and cooling systems, and updating the electrical, fire suppression and security systems.
